Obituary

On Sunday, August 18, 2019, God opened heaven and called from this world of sorrow and pain to a place of eternal rest, our beloved mother, grandmother, friend, sister and aunt.

Thomasine Juwana Crawley-Evans graced this earth on July 7, 1965 to become part of the family of the late William and Dorothy Corbette.

In her own words, Thomasine was a “very smart girl.” She graduated high school at age 16 with highest honors from Jefferson-Huguenot-Wythe in 1982. She matriculated at the University of Virginia where she studied Psychology.

Thomasine loved God and knew that He was the source of her life and total being.

Through the years, Thomasine operated an in-home daycare and worked as a customer service manager. However, her true calling was as a mental health counselor. She valued her clients and always sought their best interests.

Thomasine enjoyed the simple and calming things in life. Two of her favorites were aquariums and plants. She grew some of the most amazing house plants, and her flower gardens were always a spectacle to behold.

She is survived by her loving son Roger (Tres) Evans, Jr, (Jillainna); three granddaughters, Cameron, Leah and Rory; life partner, Randy Carter; three sisters, Virginia Dutt, Alice Carter, and Lisa Wright; a special cousin, Sandra Ellison; a host of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends 11 a.m. Friday, August 23 at Bliley's-Staples Mill, 8510 Staples Mill Road, followed by a 12 p.m. memorial service.
